ASSOCIATE ARTISTS

Kath Akers

I am a dramatherapist, clinical supervisor, facilitator, percussionist, performer and trainer; with a passion for using imagination, play and spontaneity to help people connect with themselves and others and reach their full potential.

I love working with the Gramophones because… it challenges me to think with my ‘artist’ hat on. I’m really proud to be part of a female led company of incredible artists who make fun, empowering and playful work.

I have so many memories… of laughing until my sides hurt with the Gramophones. One of my favourites was trying to keep a straight face performing Anything to Declare at the Edinburgh Fringe whilst being pretty much nose-to-nose with an audience member who was falling off his chair with laughter. It’s a lovely feeling.

Her directing includes shows for the Park Theatre, London, the Mercury Theatre, Colchester, Notnow Collective, Anonymous is a Woman, New Perspectives Theatre Company, The Gramophones, and Ava Hunt. More about my directing work.
